Interaction is a form of learning that children carry out when playing or talking. It is essential for them that, from an early age, they learn to identify and control their emotions, feelings and impulses, so that they can forge an emotionally balanced personality. This is the premise of Re-Sense, a game designed to facilitate the emotional development of children in such an exceptional situation as Covid-19.The 24 pieces of this game will help children to develop the expressiveness of their faces for a better emotional, social and affective learning.
Re-Sense starts from the initial idea of creating compositions of facial expressions by putting pieces on the transparent mask, which is removable. The game is done on the central transparent mask of the stand, in order to avoid direct physical contact. Also ensures total safety to prevent Covid transmissions when playing Re-Sense. The game is composed of 4 expressions in the form of 24 pieces that are arranged on top of the support by magnets. In this way, when the child places the pieces, they do not fall off. Once the expression is finished, it can be disassembled and placed back on the stand.
One of the most important aspects taken into account in this project has been the fact that children play with part of their faces behind a mask. Under it, there is the mouth, which has been neutralised. The mouth is a basic element for humans to communicate our emotions. Therefore, finding other ways to express feelings it have been the principal aim of the project. On the other hand, some other hygienic measures such as social distance can provoke an emotional block in children that could lead to rejection or social phobia. That's why some specialists on the area consider necessary to find other multi sensorial education methods.
Re-Sense has four elements. On the first place, the mask. This is the transparent and removable element that acts as a face where kids can  play. On the second hand, the different pieces represent a kind of emotion depending on the colour. These have been printed by a 3D printer. On the third place, the base. This is made of methacrylate and has been cut by a laser machine. It also has twenty four magnets that stick into the pieces. Lastly, the support, made of wood chipboard and painted in black (to give prominence to the pieces colours). It addition, it has been cut down by a CNC machine.
Prototypes of Re-Sense
Some examples of the initial prototypes made of clay. These were done to explore different expressions that could be represented by the Re-Sense pieces.
